Canoeing on the Baïse, Beaucaire
July and AugustGuided half-day descents with a minibus back. The seven-kilometre run to Valence-sur-Baïse includes a chute down a weir, which is the part children talk about afterwards. The river is dammed every couple of kilometres so the water is flat, and the banks are well shaded — which matters in August. You must be able to swim, and wear shoes that stay on.
